AI Is a Bubble (But Also Useful)

Right now, I think AI is becoming a growing bubble. There are so many apps doing the same thing — all powered by just one or two core large language models. And while AI has practical uses (unlike the hype-driven rise of NFTs), it’s still being heavily romanticized by tech companies.

They’re overspending on data centers and pushing the limits of computing power. AI has been around for decades, but its growth in the last couple of years is wild. Every company seems obsessed. The hype is everywhere — with overly optimistic people saying AI will take over all our jobs.

But I still disagree.

AI needs massive, massive amounts of data. And even with that, it will never fully capture human nuance. It only reflects the data it's trained on — data that’s curated, selected, and limited. These models don’t truly “think.” They don’t have minds. Someone has to guide them, prompt them. They're just massive systems — not brains.

The way companies are using AI to supercharge capitalism is wild. They call it “efficiency,” but it’s often just a way to be more inhumane. CEOs are more obsessed with profits than ever — pumping out products with rapid-fire improvements, making everything disposable just to keep consumers spending.

I get that it’s all part of capital accumulation and expansion. But they're discarding the human element. And thinking AI can “replace” people? Come on.

Look at AI customer service. Sure, it gives you perfect responses — but they’re hollow. Wouldn’t you rather talk to a real person who might not phrase things perfectly, but actually understands you?

Yes, automation can be helpful. But human connection, human responsiveness — that’s insanely valuable.

And what about AI-generated music? AI art? Who’s going to really listen to that? Maybe people who don’t know it’s AI. But once you know, it just feels off.

Eventually, if AI keeps flooding the internet with endless machine-made content, it’ll eat itself. AI will start being trained on AI-generated data. The quality will degrade. Ethical companies will buy datasets scraped by unethical ones. And then… AI will stagnate.

People will grow tired of the artificial. They’ll look again for real content, made by real humans. We’ll crave true connection.

Now, don’t get me wrong — AI is useful. But the current explosion of AI apps? Most are pointless clones. Most don’t work that well. Most are just… noise.
