Accepting Defeat
Or maybe... accepting divine intervention before I get distracted from my real mission.
Today, I concluded that the entire thing we talked about last night was, honestly, a waste of time.
But anyways, it gave me lessons.
The story started because my auntie got problematic because of the land sketch given by the municipal assessor's office. Based on that sketch, it looked like the road was occupying part of my grandmother's property.
Immediately, I got excited.
Not because I care so much about land. I honestly don't.
I got excited because I like solving problems.
So I spent hours talking with my uncle and cousins, researching what could be done, discussing possibilities, and trying to figure out if someone made a mistake.
I was treating it like a mystery.
Then boom. The next morning.
I talked to someone who actually works in the assessor's office.
Turns out the sketch isn't final.
The road placement wasn't final.
The property boundaries weren't final.
They're basically rough estimates until a proper survey is conducted. If the actual survey shows the road is somewhere else, then they'll simply adjust the sketch.
That's it.
The thing everyone was stressing about wasn't even final information.
And suddenly, all my excitement disappeared.
Sometimes Losing Is Winning
Another thing I realized.
My relatives initially felt defeated.
They thought they lost part of the land.
But after discussing things further, another possibility appeared.
What if they fought for that exact piece of land?
What if they spent money building a house there?
What if five years later the government widened the national road and claimed that exact area?
Then all that money, effort, and stress would be wasted.
Maybe this wasn't a loss.
Maybe this was a blessing in disguise.
Sometimes things don't go our way because they're saving us from an even bigger problem later.
Listen To Both Sides First
This is another lesson I need to remind myself.
I heard my auntie's side first.
Immediately, I started researching.
Immediately, I started posting my thoughts online.
Immediately, I started thinking about possible wrongdoing.
The funny thing is I wasn't trying to attack anyone.
I wasn't threatening anyone.
I was just documenting what I was learning and raising awareness in case someone else encounters the same problem someday.
But someone from the assessor's office saw my posts and felt attacked.
And honestly, I understand why.
I formed opinions before hearing all sides.
The moment I heard the other side, the entire situation looked different.
It's funny. You can't trust the government sketches.
That's why from now on, I should hear both sides first before investing too much emotion into a problem.
Excitement Is Dangerous
The biggest lesson wasn't about land.
It was about me.
I realized that whenever I encounter an interesting problem, I immediately get distracted.
It doesn't even have to be my problem.
As long as it's exciting, complicated, and feels like a puzzle, I get hooked.
I'll spend hours researching.
I'll spend money.
I'll spend mental energy.
I'll fight with mom and dad just to let me do something and they won't intervene.
Sometimes I'll even neglect my own projects.
And that's exactly what happened here.
Yesterday I spent so much time helping solve someone else's problem when I should have been working on my own mission.
If I want to solve bigger problems in life, I need to focus on bigger problems.
Not every interesting problem deserves my attention.
The Land Will Stay
At the end of the day, people spend enormous amounts of money, time, and energy fighting over land.
But one thought keeps bothering me.
One day, we're all going to die.
The land stays.
The roads stay.
The arguments disappear.
We become so obsessed with owning things that we forget how temporary we are.
Maybe that's why I don't care too much about land in the first place.
What I care about is solving meaningful problems.
Building things.
Creating things.
Helping people.
And maybe this experience was a reminder from life itself:
Not every battle is yours to fight.
Not every mystery needs your attention.
Focus on the mission.
The rest is noise.
